Our Veterinarians

Dr. Gail Lovell (B.V.Sc., M.A.C.V.Sc.)

Veterinarian/Practice Director

Gail graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 1981 and for the past 35 years has been servicing the animals and people of the Redlands. Initially working solely in an equine practice with her husband, Gail saw the need for a small animal practice in the area.

Since 1984, Gail has worked exclusively with small animals. Her main field of interest and expertise is in the diagnosis and treatment of medical disorders in dogs and cats. Gail has completed post graduate courses on topics such as internal medicine, cardiology and ophthalmology and was admitted to the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in 1998 as a member in Radiology. This ensures Gail is kept abreast of the rapidly emerging advancements in the major fields of veterinary medicine.

Over the years Gail has developed a team of loyal staff who like herself are committed to veterinary excellence, customer service and care, ensuring the pets of the Redlands receive the best of care and attention at The Redlands Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Katria Lovell (B.Sc (Equine) B.V.Sc (Hons)

Veterinarian/Practice Director

Destiny dictated that Katria was going to work in the veterinary industry. With parents Dr David and Dr Gail Lovell as directors of the family owned and orientated Redlands Veterinary Clinic, Katria grew up in the local Community around animals and veterinary practice. In addition to having worked in both the equine and small animal hospitals at Redlands, Katria has recently returned from working in elite race track practice in Melbourne.

She has a keen interest in internal and emergency medicine, and is very excited to be back headlining the dynamic team at Redlands Veterinary Clinic. She is a bit of a ‘crazy cat vet’ and recently, she completed an advanced course in Feline Medicine, and intends pursuing her Memberships in this field.Dr Kat is thoroughly enjoying being back in the community and invites you to experience the Redlands difference- experience IS the difference, at Redlands Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Rebecca Campbell B.V.Sc

Veterinarian

Rebecca graduated from University of Queensland in 2015. She has a passion for treating all creatures great and small but has a particular passion for canine medicine and surgery. Rebecca has four dogs, one elderly cat and chickens. Rebecca is a poodle enthusiast and frequently has her poodle Coco at work with her.

Dr. David Lovell (B.V.Sc., M.A.C.V.SC., Q.D.A.H., G.C.M)

Partner and Business Manager

Dr Lovell has been the principal and founding partner for the Redlands Veterinary Clinic since its inception in 1978, and now The Horse Hospital at Wadham Park. His 48 years in equine practice have included four years in a large racing and breeding practice in the USA, periods of 1 year each in the equine clinics of the Universities of Melbourne and Queensland, and a 3 year research project at the University of Sydney. He has presented technical papers at veterinary conferences in Australia, USA, and Europe and has been the author of chapters in several text books. Dr Lovell has been President of the Australian Equine Veterinary Association and an executive member for 15 years.

He is currently a Director of the Australian Veterinary Association and a member of the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Queensland,. He is a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Equine Surgery, and an FEI accredited veterinarian. He offers a lifetime of experience in equine veterinary medicine and surgery, a very high profile in the Australian veterinary profession, and a long involvement in competitive horse sports, to his equine patients and their owners.

Dr. Keith Law (B.V.Sc.) 

Veterinarian

Dr Keith Law graduated from University Of Queensland in 2007 with a Bachelor Of Veterinary Science. He has worked for Redlands Vet Clinic as a veterinarian since his graduation, achieving his 10 year anniversary in 2018. Dr Keith is our resident head surgeon, having completed the Centre for Veterinary Education Surgery course. He performs even the most complicated of surgeries in house here at Redlands, with great emphasis on his ability to perform Cruciate ligament surgeries, Zepps Ear procedures and anal gland removals.

In the future he plans to undertake his membership in Surgery.  Dr Keith works closely with Dr Gail and Dr Kat on all small animal cases, as well as Dr David in the Equine clinic and and acts as a mentor for our junior vets, helping them to improve their surgical skills. Dr Keith is proud fur-father to his cat Stu, a REDVET rescue and Instagram sensation – check her out @stupiagram

Dr. Kate Hanna BVSc (Hons) 

Veterinarian

Dr Kate is one of our vets and has spent most of her life here in the Redlands and has been bringing her beloved pets here for as long as she can remember. Her passion for animals sparked at a young age because she was always surrounded by them. Growing up Dr Kate had 2 dogs, a budgie and many fish, these days she still has 2 dogs, a conure, a dove, 2 budgies and a pet rat. If she isn’t helping or hanging out with animals you will find her at the gym, or playing animal crossing, she also loves making foraging toys for her pets. Her favourite place to go is Glen Innes to visit her Gran and her favourite food is her Nan’s Christmas pudding with custard. She loves pastel pink and her favourite thing to do at work is cuddling all the puppies. Dr Kate has always wanted to be a vet since she was little because she has always wanted to help any pet live their best life. Dr. John Bonnici BSc (Pathology), BAniSc&Mg (Hons), BVSc (Hons) 

Veterinarian

John joined the team in 2022 after completing his Veterinary studies at University of Queensland. Ever since a child, he always knew he wanted to be a Vet. Originally from Melbourne, he completed his first two degrees in Melbourne University, including submitting a thesis on lameness in pigs, and working in medical research at WEHI focusing on treatments in breast cancer and obesity.

One of John’s goals is to provide a safe space where clinician, client and patient work as one to improve the quality of life of animals, and strengthen the bond with your animal. So when in the clinic you can be sure he is cuddling our fur patients.

Dr Steph Whitlock BVSc (Hons)

Veterinarian

Steph graduated from the University of Queensland in 2016. Following graduation Steph spent 5.5 years working in Maryborough until returning home and joining the REDVET family in June 2022. Dr Steph has always had a strong affiliation with the clinic having been a client with her family dog and having done placement with the clinic as a vet student. 

She has a special interest in internal medicine and ophthalmology and loves being able to form a strong rapport with her clients.

When not at work she enjoys spending time with friends, family and her dog Maisie. She also loves going to the movies, board-games and is an avid Friends fan!

Dr Valerie Ng BVSc

Veterinarian

Valerie graduated from Murdoch University in 2007 and spent 10 years practicing in Singapore. She attained her membership in small animal internal medicine in 2016 and came to Brisbane in 2018, completing 2 medicine internships before settling back into general practice. Sammie the dog and Dasha the princess cat live with her, along with an impressive collection of indoor plants. In her free time, Valerie enjoys salsa dancing, pottery and bush walking.

Dr Samantha Campbell BVSc

Veterinarian

Dr Sam joined our Redvet team in 2023. After graduating with a veterinary degree from the University of Queensland, she has returned to the Redlands to begin her career in small animal care. Since childhood, she has had an insatiable need for animal knowledge and interaction, seen when she eagerly awaited her weekly wildlife magazines, enthusiastically volunteered to pet sit for neighbours, or stopped to pet every dog in the park. Her fascination with all animals lends itself to her talents with crochet, as she undertakes projects for creating blankets, clothing and animal plush toys. 

Dr Sam learned the responsibilities of animal ownership early on in life, and treated her pets and wildlife alike with care and love. Education, compassion and kindness are her core values that she upholds, and with her warmth and friendliness, she would love to take care of your pet in the clinic.

Dr Sophia Brown BVSc

Veterinarian

Sophia graduated from James Cook University in 2023 and joined the RedVet team shortly after. She enjoys both the internal medicine and surgical cases that come through the clinic but has a particular interest in diagnostic imaging. She hopes to further her radiology and ultrasonography skills as she progresses through her career.

When Sophia isn’t at the clinic, you can find her at the beach, stand-up paddle boarding or spending time with her friends and family. One of Sophia’s favourite pastimes is exploring local waterfalls and hiking trails so she would love to know your favourite spots!

Our Nurses and Support Team

Abbey Lovell

Practice Manager

Abbey is our Clinic Practice Manager, a role that sees her work in both our equine and small animal clinics. Like her sister Katria, Abbey has grown up around the veterinary and equine industries, and is an avid and very successful competitor in Show Horse competitions.

Abbey has maintained an active interest in all things equine for her whole life, but left us for a period of time to work in corporate finance. Abbey graduated from QUT with a degree in Marketing and Finance, and has a wealth of experience in customer service, administration and client relations.
Abbey is a proud Mother to two gorgeous rescue kittens, Louis and Camilla, and is particularly committed to ensuring that all of our clients, both two legged and four, enjoy their REDVET experience.

Holly Frankcombe

Veterinary Nurse

Holly joined the REDVET team after relocating from Darwin where she worked for 2 years as a qualified Cert IV nurse. Now residing in Brisbane Holly is continuing her education as a nurse by studying a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology at the University of Queensland. She is particularly interested in nursing intensive care and surgical patients and gets great joy seeing patients through to recovery.

In her spare time she loves camping, hiking, illustrating and spending time with her husband Ryan and her two hand-reared kittens, Toxo and Plasmo.

Holly brings with her a wealth of experience and energy and we are so excited to have her on board with us!

Cassandra Cooper-Dewal

Veterinary Nurse

Cassandra has doubled as a veterinary nurse/recepeptionist for the past three years, and joined the REDVET team in October 2018. Cass has two family dogs – Lilly the Bassett Hound and Floyed the lab. In her spare time, Cass loves to paint pet portraits and is absolutely loving being part of the REDVET family and cannot wait to continue to meet all the amazing fur parents and fur friends that visit us here at the clinic.

Kira Pamuk

Veterinary Nurse

Kira is one of our senior veterinary nurses, with a special interest in patient comfort and wellbeing.

Kira is a qualified Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse, with a wealth of experience in the pet care industry. She and her partner are kept busy with their two dogs.

John

Veterinary Nurse

John is one of our junior nurses here at the clinic. He loves coming and spending time with our patients. John grew up in the Redlands with his mum, dad and sisters. Growing up john’s favourite thing to do was to always hang out with his best friend Tumbleweed and Sabre (childhood pets). John also has a few hobbies which revolve around animals, games and historical events. Spaghetti or Greek lasagne would have to be his favourite food and he loves the colour red. John’s motto for life is ‘I will find a way or I will make one’. John decided he wanted to work in the vet industry because he saw how much his pets loved him and so he decided he wanted to help them. Animals are what sparked his interest in working here at the clinic, he loves our loyal and passionate they are to their owners. John’s favourite thing about working here is being able to assist and help wherever he can within the clinic. John spends his time looking after his new puppy Jade and his cat Fatty. Amber Williams

Veterinary Nurse

Amber is one of the nurses, and she joined our team in 2020. She loves having the ability to help all creatures great and small here within the clinic, whether it is a hospital stay or just a routine appointment. She loves being able to help every pet with their experience here at the clinic.

If Amber isn’t in the clinic taking care of your fur-babies, you will find her hanging out with her fur-babies, Sammy the cat and her pups, Dora and Kendra. Amber has always been surrounded by animals and because of that, she realised how loveable they are, which sparked her passion to start her career in the animal industry.

Kodeigh Fuller

Veterinary Nurse

Kodeigh is a Veterinary Nurse, I qualified back in September 2019 not long after moving to Australia from Christchurch, New Zealand. My passion for animals can’t go unnoticed, I’ve always had a soft spot for our furry companions, which led me to rescue my Great Dane × Border Collie named Bruno and my DSH named Pebbles. In my free time, I love gearing up a horse and going for a ride. Giraffes are my favourite they are the tallest land mammal and have the same number of bones in their neck as us humans just much longer!

Ashlee Bowman

Veterinary Nurse

Ashlee joined the Red Vet team in 2022 after completing her nursing placement, where she fell in love with the clinic and the people. Ever since she was, she was little, she’s had a love and passion for animals, and is currently studying to be a veterinary nurse. Ashlee has been surrounded by animals’  her whole life, which sparked her passion and dream to work in the veterinary industry. You’ll find Ashlee helping the nurses and vets in the hospital, or out the front in reception. In her spare time, she loves going on hikes and bush walks with her fur-baby, Luna, or making jewellery. 

Tara Johnson

Veterinary Nurse

Tara joined the RedVet team at the beginning of 2023 and is one of our consult nurses. Tara worked as an Enrolled nurse for over 5 years and soon realised she couldn’t stay away from the animal industry. Over the last 3 years she has worked as a consult nurse and gets the privilege to see all aspects of the clinic. When she isn’t cuddling your fur baby, she is busy loving on her cheeky amazon parrot called Tori  and 2 dogs Yoda and Gazoo. In her spare time she loves to travel with her children to watch them race go carts. 

Kiarna Johnson

Veterinary Nurse

Kiarna began her RedVet journey in November 2022.  Kiarna has completed her certificate 3 in animal studies and will be going on to complete her certificate IV in Vet Nursing.  She has always had a passion for working with animals and caring for them and has wanted to work at a vet clinic ever since she was a little girl. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her partner and going to beach with my fur baby (daisy). Kiarna has a strong passion for horses You will often find her in the clinic with a smile on her face greeting our clients or showing love to your pets.

Sophie Sherrin

Veterinary Nurse

Sophie joined the Redvet family in 2022 starting and you will often find her out working in our large animal hospital as well as the small animal hospital.  Sophie has always had a love and passion for all animals big and small and has grown up around animals her whole life from family dogs at home to riding horses and visiting her grandparents farm which is what sparked her passion for the industry. I love being a part of a patients experience at the clinic and helping to make sure they are taken care of with lots of love throughout out their time at the clinic. In my spare time you’ll find me hanging out with my puppy Roxy, playing sports, camping with friends or horse riding.

Jenna Rudge

Equine Veterinary Nurse

Jenna brings a wealth of knowledge to our Equine team, having spent her life growing up around horses in the United Kingdom. Jenna currently lives in Brisbane with her partner Maikol and their two fur babies Bundy and Peanut and enjoys helping Abbey exercise and prepare the Show horse team, as well as her nursing duties at Team REDVET.

Kasey Knight

Junior Veterinary Nurse

Kasey is a junior nurse here at Redlands, with the view to studying veterinary science when she graduates from high school. She has a keen interest in all aspects of the veterinary industry, with a wealth of experience in production animal management. Kasey has won numerous awards for Junior Sheep Judging and enjoys spending time with her menagerie of animals outside of her school and work commitments.

Bee Rodgers

Junior Veterinary Nurse

Bee is one of our junior nurses and from a young age has always wanted to work with animals. Bee’s Redvet journey began after doing work experience at the clinic . After work experience is when bee knew this is exactly what she wanted to do with her career.  You will find Bee in the hospital loving on your fur babies and when she isn’t at work she is at home loving on her fur babies and spending time riding her horse.

Sea-Arna Paterson

Receptionist / Junior Nurse

In 2021, Sea-Arna joined the RedVet team. She has a huge love and passion for animals, and ever since she was little, she wanted to pursue a career in the veterinary industry. You will see her smiling face behind the front desk in reception and out in the hospital, assisting the vets and giving love and cuddles to your pets.

When she isn’t in the clinic looking after the gorgeous animals or getting to know our clients, she is spending time with her off the track Thoroughbred, Toro, and her 15-year old cat, Missy Moo. Sea-Arna loves being part of Team RedVet because of the incredible knowledge and kindness that is shown throughout the team, clients, and fur-babies.

Erin Mobley-Guazzo

Receptionist

Erin joined team RedVet in early 2022 after deciding she wanted a career change. Erin decided she wanted to pursue her love for animals and customer service. She loves being able to work in an environment that ensures your pet is getting the best care possible and that the owners are also enjoying their visit with us.

You will often find Erin at the front desk, making sure that you are having an amazing experience with us. Erin and her partner have 2 very cute puppies named Willow and Daisy, so if she isn’t cuddling your fur-babies, she will definitely be cuddling hers.

Kate Ferris

Receptionist / Junior Nurse

Kate is one of our receptionists but is now also learning the ropes of a junior nurse. Since she was little, Kate has always loved animals, after years working in other industry’s she went back to what she was truly passionate about and decided to study animal studies and look further into studying vet nursing. Kate will happily admit that she is a bit of a crazy cat lady and enjoys spending her days off hanging out with her cat Norman. Kate loves helping and supporting all our clients and her favourite part of her role is watching our hospital patients go back home. 

Ilah Harvey

Junior Nurse

Ilah joined the RedVet team after finding a passion for animals and following her aunt, Dr. Rebecca Campbell, into the industry. She worked as a volunteer when she was 13 and is now developing her nursing skills.
Ilah is often found taking care of your fur-babies. She loves getting to know the patients personally and taking care of them while staying at the clinic. She loves being able to work alongside our vet and nursing team. Because of this, Ilah has decided she wants to follow her aunt and become a vet.

She also has 2 cats, Demi the ragdoll and Dobby her rescue kitten from the rescue program we have here at the clinic. In her spare time, Ilah plays a lot of sports, including her 3 favourites: soccer, touch footy, and rugby.

Kyah O’neill

Receptionist / Trainee Nurse

You will often see Kyah smiling at reception however what you might not know is she is currently studying to become a qualified vet nurse. She has always loved animals and new she wanted to work with them so when the opportunity popped up to join team she was beyond excited. Kyah enjoys learning through the different medical cases within the clinic and loves ensuring the pet’s are given lots of attention and cuddles. When Kyah is at the clinic she is spending time with her family and her fur babies at home. 

Koraa Lee

Receptionist

Koraa joined the RedVet team at the end of 2022 as she wanted to gain more knowledge and experience in animals within the veterinary industry. You will often find Koraa within the reception area of the clinic, greeting you with a big smile. She loves all animals, big and small.   When she isn’t at work meeting and greeting all our friendly clients and their pets, She is at home spending time with her galah Maggie and cat Roman.

Demi Whitehouse

Receptionist

Demi is one of our receptionists who has recently joined the RedVet team in July 2023. She has been in the industry since 2022 and one daydreams of becoming a Veterinary Nurse. Demi has always been a dog lover, but after six months of working in the vet industry, she fell in love with cats and has adopted two boys called Teddy and Dusty. She also has a pet snake, Willow the Woma Python. When Demi isn’t in the clinic chatting with you and loving on your fur babies, you will find her spending time with family & friends, watching AFL games, spending the day at a theme park, or invested in the latest Netflix true crime documentaries! 

When she isn’t in the clinic greeting you and your pet’s with her happy and friendly personality, she is spending time with her partner taking their dog Leif for adventures or hanging out at home with her cat Winnie

Jess Moroney

Receptionist

Jess joined the Redvet Team in October 2023. She has always had a love and passion for working with animals and helping people with the care for their pet’s needs. Jess’s is aspiring to become a veterinary nurse one day. She loves learning about Pet nutrition and helping owners find the right diet for their pets. 

When she isn’t in the clinic greeting you and your pet’s with her happy and friendly personality, she is spending time with her partner taking their dog Leif for adventures or hanging out at home with her cat Winnie
